Ugly Christmas Sweater Party

Last weekend, Nehemiah & I hosted an Ugly Christmas Sweater Party at our house. It was so much fun!

On Friday morning we got up at 7:00 and started getting our house & yard ready. Nehemiah mowed the yard and raked leaves. He literally filled up our HUGE trashcan with leaves... 6 times. He did a great job!! He picked up sticks, cleaned the porch, and overall made the yard look fabulous!

My job was inside! It’s hard to keep a house clean all week while working. We had laundry, dirty dishes, towels, thank you cards, mail, wedding gifts, items that needed to go to Goodwill, and just “life” items EVERYWHERE. I worked all day getting our house ready!

I went grocery shopping & started a chili (with beans) in our crock pot for dinner. Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory says it’s not actually a chili if it has beans in it, but I disagree. I don’t think it is chili without beans. Haha (sorry, my newly developed love for that show just came out… that’s nerdy!)  I had never made chili or used a crock pot before and I have to say, I’m kind of proud how it came out… and I’m pumped up about trying more recipes in the crock pot! If you have any you’d like to share I’d love to hear!!

Nehemiah and I had already put up our Christmas tree and decorated our house with our limited amount of Christmas items, but we hadn’t had time to put up our Christmas lights. So at 5:30… (our party started at 6:00) we started hanging our lights. We were literally still hanging lights after 6:00, but boy did they look great! And thankfully everyone was casually late, so we were able to get dressed and look presentable for our party. Haha

We had looked at the Lake Charles Goodwill the weekend before for Ugly Christmas Sweaters and had no luck. So Nehemiah ended up ordering ours & Cody’s sweater’s online. Their sweater’s came in the day before the party, and you would know, mine came in the day AFTER the party. So on Friday, I ran into Burkes Outlet and tried to find the ugliest sweater. I did find some Christmas sweaters that I would never buy intentionally, but they weren’t THAT ugly. Haha… Oh well. It was fun!

Our friends started getting to our house and we started catching up! We really hadn’t seen anyone since our wedding so it was great to see everyone. Nehemiah grilled some hotdogs and we ate! We made a couple smores late that night… and we got to bed around 2:00 in the morning. Whoa… I don’t remember the last time I stayed up that late. Oh wait, the night before our wedding! Haha… I was anxious!

We had a great time and definitely want it to become a tradition!! Thanks to everyone who came!! We didn’t take many pictures, but enjoy the ones we took!  And check out our cute little invitations that I had printed at Tiny Prints!! We loved them!! (I’m a sucker for a paper & cards and ANYTHING that I can send you in the mailbox!!!)

Get your ugly on!
